AN ALIEN EXAMINATION OF THE IDENTITY

As I traveled home along the dark and desolate Crane Street, out of the upper right corner of my windshield, I glimpsed that familiar from previous encounters, greenish blue saucer-shaped UFO craft as it slipped across the starlit sky.

It disappeared beyond the giant spiderlike silhouette of an old water tower. I thought they passed me by, but as I rounded the curve, the alien craft quickly navigated to hover silently about twenty feet above and in front of my now stopped car.

A sudden movement in the darkness drew my attention to a pair of huge, inquisitive blue eyes peering through my window. A familiar alien had positioned himself by my door.

I felt so alone, wondering what they wanted with me this time. Even though I found their feedback interesting, I resented being always at their convenience.

    Others gathered.

With a sway of his left hand, he motioned me to follow him . I got out of the car.

The Eye came to my right side and gently took hold of my wrist.

The other aliens ritualistically positioned themselves between me and the center of the craft,  forming two rows of two and facing each other, making a path for me to beneath the center of the craft. My guide slowly guided me between the rows and under the craft. A pins-and- needles effect engulfed my body, and I felt the cool radiance upon the top of my head.

I found myself walking into a tiny, red-glowing room. An extremely tall alien stood in front of me, uncomfortably close. I noticed he smelled of frankincense. The Eye exited through an arched hallway to the left.

The alien showed me a green wafer about one inch in diameter pinched between the long thin thumb and index finger of his left hand. With his large unspeaking eyes fixed on mine, he opened his mouth, placed the wafer on his short, pointed, whitish-pink tongue, then closed his mouth--obviously demonstrating the proper use of the wafer. He opened the long, thin fingers of his clenched right hand, took another wafer from a stack about the size of a roll of quarters, and moved it toward my mouth. Worried about the effect that it would have on me, I reluctantly opened my mouth and stuck out my tongue.

He placed the wafer on my tongue where it quickly dissolved to a syrup that tasted like cough syrup and honey. The liquid quickly disappeared, leaving nothing to swallow.

A giddy calmness swept over me. He pointed with his long thin index finger to an arched red corridor at my right. I entered the narrow, curved hallway...

Somehow I knew I was going to undergo an alien examination. A door slid open, and a beautiful ultraviolet light shone into the corridor. An alien comes out  and guides me in, the door quickly closes  behind me.

The brightly glowing ultraviolet room is round, with a domed ceiling about thirty feet in diameter. In the center is a six-foot-round table, with seven aliens sitting equally spaced around its periphery. They are all dressed in different, yet plain, uniforms and colors. All the aliens are bald except one with long metallic gold hair.

They stare down into a large screen set within the surface of the table. The screen displays colorful symbols, intricately assembled into a three-dimensional holographic pattern of an irregular egg shape, with another small metallic green egg touching it at its end. It reminds me of a brightly backlit stained glass window. Shafts of bluish-white, lightning-bolt like flashes, emanate from the small egg. Fingers branch off the main lightning shaft and shoot among the symbols, illuminating its target before fading out.

Sometimes the process reverses with the flashes originating in the large egg and terminating in the small one.

Their alien eyes, move to and fro examining the arrangements and flashes. Curious, I step closer to the table, with my guide staying close by my side. Some of the symbols on the video screen are colors I had never seen before.

Except for two aliens, all sit up, eyes straight ahead. The remaining two discuss their evaluations in a strange, musical, sometimes rhythmic, alien language I can hear in my head - not through my ears. Surprisingly it induces meanings into my thoughts, which I can partially understand. As best as I can interpret in words, they speak about East, the Teacher, Relic, the Flash, Dran and Think.

The other five aliens remain motionless and silent, arms crossed, their hands resting on their opposite shoulders.

The alien facing towards me again stares down into the screen. His analyzing eyes moving rapidly back and forth. Finally, he sits up, crossing this arms and resting his hands upon opposite shoulders. The screen turns solid green. The eggs are gone. They all look at the long haired alien. He obviously telepathes with eye talk.

He welcomes me with friendly compassionate eyes, "James". I couldn't believe he spoke a regular word. The alien with his back to me swiveled in his seat to face me. From his large hypnotic right eye, I recognize him as the alien who had led me aboard so many times. He rose to stand in front of me, then bowed slightly from the waist in a polite oriental manner.

Another alien, dressed identical to my guide, entered the room and occupied the seat he had vacated. New eggs appeared in the screen. The door I entered through opened. A tall, thin, naked Australian Aborigine stepped through the door. Behind him,  there was a pretty blond girl dressed in black shorts and a white blouse.

I wondered. Why did the pattern on the video screen change when a new person was led in? Was the previous pattern specifically mine? Had the Aborigine been picked up in Australia, halfway around the world,  only minutes after me?

I was led down another curved corridor to an arched doorway tto a brightly lit ultraviolet alien operating room. Ominous looking chrome, white porcelain and stainless-steel medical instruments hang above an operating table. Two dentist-type pedestal chairs are positioned to the right side of it. My anxiety soars and I feel feint. I think, This is it, my alien examination...

Suddenly, I am standing alone in the moonlight, looking out over the lifeless bushes of late autumn. I didn't know who or where I was. I looked up and scanned the starry sky. The alien craft had disappeared.

From burning eyes, icy tears streamed down my cheeks and dripped from under my chin. My hands were weak.

Looking out over the withered terrain I noticed the glow of an automobile's headlights. Instinctively I made my way toward them. When I reached the road and saw my car just where I had left it. The familiarity brought my memory back.

I remembered the alien operating room, and my blood ran cold.  What had happened to me ?  Do I have an alien implant? What caused my eyes to water and my hands to weaken? What had those previously friendly creatures done to me ?
